Logan Lake Books

Update July 7, 2008: It's been almost 11 months since I updated you all on what's happening.  You might say we've been a little busy. Logan Lake Video got a sister store Merritt Movie Experts.  Last fall things started to come together for us to put in a new store in Merritt which is about a hour drive from Logan Lake. Merritt Movie Experts has been up and running for several months now. Currently the new store is just (Just!  There is already a couple thousand there!) movies, but there is plans in "phase two" to add about thousand or so books to the store. (Books are going in how many and where becomes the question.)

The downside to all this change is we have been going through staff. We didn't have a lot of staff at the end of last summer. The owner went to Merritt to run that store. I get to run this store, and my one remaining student became my second.  Been training people ever since, or at least it feels that way.  It takes about 6 months to really learn and know all the different parts of this store, a few have left before that time came, all for different reasons.  Be nice to get fully trained staff so I can have some time off.

The goal is still to have about 5000 books on-line, and we are back up to about 3500 books listed. As we inventory all the books we have, we catch mistakes, and are cross categorizing. This means that a book on tape or a large print book will be listed in both that area and the topics area, ex. mystery and large print mystery. As the site’s selection continues to expand, that should make it easier to search. So if a book you’d seen here before isn’t listed, it could be we just haven’t got to that section. As always we will try to keep you up to date on all of what's going on.

Logan Lake Video

Logan Lake Video is 12 years old and we got new shelving in Feb. (okay it was the left over from the new store but it was still a face lift). Part of getting ready for the new store was we doubled our orders for a couple of months.  The response was so positive we've kept bring in more movies both in titles and number of copies. Look for Previously Viewed to be added to our on-line selection in the next couple of months.
We are continuing our special order search. We have found and special ordered hundreds of movies, tv shows and other DVD's people wanted for their collection.

T & T General Store is 3 years old (wow that long already). Over the last year it has become less of a focus for us. We are still fine tuning what to have in stock. And what the town can support. It's become mostly greeting cards, party supplies and crafts. Adding an on-line area to this website has gone to the back burner as time and money has to go into the new store.
